Blizzard confirmed that four dungeons included in the Midnight Season 1 rotation are locked in the 12.0.0 pre-expansion update. The affected dungeons are Algeth’ar Academy, Pit of Saron, Seat of the Triumvirate, and Skyreach. The developer says the dungeons are closed on all difficulties in the pre-patch while they receive adjustments specific to Midnight Season 1. The closures apply across Normal, Heroic, and Mythic modes during the 12.0.0 pre-expansion period.
According to Blizzard, the dungeons will reopen on Normal difficulty with the 12.0.1 update. Heroic and Mythic difficulties will become available later when Midnight Season 1 launches. The Seat of the Triumvirate is an exception in that it has no Normal mode. Blizzard intends for that dungeon to be available only on the higher difficulties when the season goes live.
Pit of Saron, Seat of the Triumvirate, Skyreach, and Algeth’ar Academy are currently closed on all difficulties in the 12.0.0 pre-expansion update while they undergo changes for Midnight Season 1.
When the 12.0.1 update releases, they’ll reopen on Normal difficulty (except Seat of the Triumvirate, which has no Normal mode), and Heroic and Mythic difficulties will unlock when Midnight Season 1 begins.
Thanks for your patience as we update these dungeons!
“Thanks for your patience as we update these dungeons!” Blizzard wrote in the developer post announcing the closures. The closures are part of the pre-patch work for Midnight. For more info on the pre-patch rollout and related issues, see the coverage of the Midnight 12.0.0 pre-patch here. Players who encounter locked dungeon entrances during the pre-patch should expect Normal mode access to return with 12.0.1 and the higher-mode unlocks to follow when Season 1 begins.
