Fortnite recently launched a Star Wars-themed update that breaks from its usual season format, introducing a mini-season. This change might indicate that more mini-seasons, offering shorter, focused content bursts, could be part of Fortnite’s future plans.
Fortnite could be getting more mini-seasons
The Star Wars event, officially named Chapter 6: Mini Season 1, differs from the traditional season numbering. Previously, only Season OG in Chapter 4 used a similar naming style, followed by a standard season numbering. This title suggests the possibility of a mini-season within the same chapter or a new format involving multiple mini-seasons in upcoming chapters.
Mini seasons, such as the original Season OG and the Star Wars crossover, have been reserved for major events. This approach might allow Epic Games to focus on a single franchise for a limited time without requiring players to commit to a full-length season if they aren’t interested in that theme.
WE MIGHT GET ANOTHER MINI-SEASON THIS CHAPTER 😳
• Current Season is called "Chapter 6 – Mini Season 1"
• Either ANOTHER Mini-Season this Chapter or Fortnite are preparing for multiple Mini-Seasons in future Chapters https://t.co/hJ7nMaNhWO— HYPEX (@HYPEX) May 2, 2025
Epic Games’ growing relationship with Disney, which includes a $1.5 billion investment, could mean more Disney properties might appear in future mini-seasons. While this remains speculative, the Star Wars mini-season seems to be just the start of Epic’s plans.
