Well, after multiple shotgun changes in Fortnite, the developers are considering of retaining the same old effectivity of the Pump Shotgun. Recently, Eric Williamson, Fortnite Battle ROyale design leader has stated on his twitter that Pump Shotguns will get a buff in 5.30.
When there’s a “buff” word involved, everyone thinks it’s about the damage output. This time that’s not the case. Epic Games is planning to reduce the equip time and leave the damage as is. These changes are going to land in patch 5.30. Below you can see the tweet.
Regarding shotgun equip times: current thinking is to reduce Pump Shotgun equip time slightly in update 5.30 next week. Other shotguns will remain unchanged for now

As Eric stated, no other Shotguns will receive a change, making the pump a slightly more favorite weapon to use in close quarter battles. The Pump shotgun is still the second most favorite shotgun after the Heavy, and this change is not that critical so is most likely going to remain at the same spot.
