Fortnite is reviving companion pets this weekend with a new take called Sidekicks, arriving as part of Chapter 6’s Simpsons mini-season. Epic Games has confirmed the first Sidekick, a banana-dog named Peels, will be included in the upcoming Battle Pass, while additional Sidekicks will drop in the Item Shop on November 7.
This is the close of a long tease. Datamines and earlier leaks had suggested pets were being reworked, first starting to emerge in May, and we previously covered the dataminer evidence that pointed to pets returning as upgraded companions in Fortnite in a dataminer report on pets returning.
Details shared so far are straightforward. The Battle Pass will include Peels, though Epic has not clarified whether Peels are a free Battle Pass reward or locked behind the Premium track. After this weekend, additional Sidekicks such as Bonesy, Spike, and Lil’ Raptor will appear in the Item Shop on November 7, and other designs teased in images include a Fishstick-themed Sidekick and a hoodie-wearing pug.
Sidekicks use an earnable currency called Sidekick Points (SP), which can be spent on cosmetics to change colors, apparel, and other custom items for each Sidekick. The feature looks built to be both collectible and cosmetic-first, and the return of companions opens a clear path for future crossovers and themed Sidekicks.
Epic has already started folding the Sidekick rollout into other platform moves; this season’s Battle Pass content is now noted as included with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which will affect how some players access Peels and other Battle Pass rewards. Looking ahead, Sidekicks are expected to have a larger presence once Chapter 7 begins in December, when Fortnite turns the page on another year of content. For players who have been watching leaks, this formal rollout ties back to the earlier pet rework material and makes companion customization a visible part of the near-term roadmap.
