Fortnite V-Bucks are 20% cheaper, Epic Games Declares War against Google and Apple

Epic Games has decided to lower the V-Bucks price as a rough response to Google and Apple and its services. With the recent changes and the new discount, the acquirement of the V-Bucks is direct. It circumvents the official Google and Apple services, which means anyone purchasing will avoid sharing a % fee with Google and Apple.

Epic announced the 20% discount on V-Bucks but hasn’t announced that it’s a part of the war against Apple and Google. Today’s promo has simply introduced a completely new payment, which allows users to choose whether or not they want to pay directly to Epic Games or go through the proper Google and Android services.

Currently, Apple and Google collect a 30% fee for each Fortnite transaction. As respectful as it can be, to counter the issue properly, Epic Games has warned that if Apple and Google lower their fees on payments in the future, Epic Games will pass along the savings.

These discounts are most likely to be permanent, alongside the purchase options on mobile devices as well. Check the images below:

Below you can find the official statement on the matter, posted on the official website of Fortnite and Epic Games.

The Fortnite Mega Drop is here! Get up to 20% savings on V-Bucks and real-money offers for every purchase on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac, and on mobile when using select payment methods.

This isn’t a sale… these are new discount prices available anytime! We’re excited to pass along these savings to you and will continue to look for additional ways to bring value to all Fortnite players. Here’s how to snag your savings.

Today, we’re also introducing a new way to pay on iOS and Android: Epic direct payment. When you choose to use Epic direct payments, you save up to 20% as Epic passes along payment processing savings to you.

Grab the latest Fortnite update to begin saving today! Here’s how it works:
