Fortnite’s Next-Gen Upgrade Rocks – Brings the Old School Throwback Axe Pickaxe For Free

Epic Games has announced a lot of features on the next-gen consoles. Even though we haven’t seen any of them in action, they promise quite a lot. The powerful hardware coming with the PS5 and the Xbox Series X will grant Epic Games the opportunity to present a much cleaner and better-performing version of Fortnite.

But that’s not all. Together with the next-gen upgrade, players will have the opportunity to satisfy the nostalgic need and acquire themselves an OG pickaxe for free. That’s the Throwback Axe Pickaxe, which is the classic default pickaxe from Fortnite Chapter 1.

First of all, the features that will be available on the next-gen consoles are breathtaking. Both the Xbox Series X and PS5 will perform amazingly good, mitigate issues and improve performance compared to its predecessors. Some of the more essential features in next-gen are as follows:

Xbox Series X

  • 4K RESOLUTION AT 60 FPS ON SERIES X
  • DYNAMIC VISUALS AND PHYSICS ON SERIES X
  • 1080P RESOLUTION AT 60 FPS ON SERIES S
  • GET INTO MATCHES FASTER
  • ENHANCED SPLIT SCREEN

PlayStation 5

  • 4K RESOLUTION AT 60 FPS
  • DYNAMIC VISUALS AND PHYSICS
  • DUALSENSE CONTROLLER IMMERSION
  • SELECT YOUR FAVORITE MODE FROM THE PS5 HOME SCREEN
  • GET INTO MATCHES FASTER
  • ENHANCED SPLIT SCREEN

Next gen = next week!! Once you’ve taken in that sweet smell of unboxing a brand-new Xbox or PlayStation (or both, if you’re super lucky), a next-gen version of Fortnite will be ready and waiting for you to download. The Fortnite builds on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 aren’t simply tweaked last-gen builds but new native ones to harness the power of the new consoles!

If you’re already a Fortnite player, you’ll easily be able to continue your progress, and if you’re new to Fortnite, it’ll be a great time to jump in. Whether you’re a veteran player or looking to play for the first time, you’ll be able to download the game on your new console Day 1 and enjoy a truly “next-gen” Fortnite experience.

As we stated above, Epic Games will also bring some cosmetics from Chapter 1, among which the old school Pickaxe is found. The Throwback Axe Pickaxe will be available for free on all platforms and PlayStation Store starting on November 4 through January 15, 2021. All of those who want to grab it will be able to once it goes live.
