Fortnite update 39.30 is live, and it brings a limited-time Fall Guys crossover mode called Crown Jam, plus a set of fixes and some datamined additions. Epic says the deployment will address several lobby and Locker lag issues that players have reported.
Crown Jam details and rewards
Crown Jam is a 3v3 arcade sport that runs from January 23 to February 9. The mode blends obstacle-course chaos with ball game objectives. Players score by getting slam dunks on the other team’s side of the arena, and each match places you into one of six Crown Jam clubs.
There is a Ranked option for Crown Jam so players can compete for Locker cosmetics. Ranked rewards include the Less Fallin’ More Ballin’ Jam Track and the Crown Ball Back Bling. Separately, finishing five Crown Jam matches unlocks the Blue Plushie Bean Back Bling, which can be equipped in other modes.
Fixes
Epic posted that v39.30 will fix several lag problems in the Locker and Lobby menu screens, including delays when emoting, changing screens, or navigating your Locker. See the developer’s status post on X for the announcement.
Datamined content spotted in the update
Dataminers have already pulled several items from the update files. Reported finds from HYPEX include:
- New skins
- New sidekick
- Fortnite February Crew Pack
- New sidekick loading screen
- The Office x Fortnite content
The datamine attribution comes via HYPEX. If Epic publishes more fixes or official additions, those will be added to coverage. Players on consoles should see the download roll out as update 1.000.209. The Crown Jam mode and its rewards are time limited, so players wanting the Blue Plushie Bean Back Bling or Ranked items should plan to play between January 23 and February 9.
Fortnite continues to get crossovers and temporary modes throughout the season, and Crown Jam is the latest example of a short-run event designed to move playstyles into something fast and chaotic.
