Endnight Games revealed Forest 3 during The Game Awards on December 11, 2025, showing a short first-person trailer that recasts the series in a sci-fi setting. The trailer opens inside a starship cockpit before something goes wrong and the player is hurled far from Earth. After the crash the footage settles on a wet, grey-blue world where the protagonist scavenges, hunts, and rigs up improvised tools with the help of a small shoulder-mounted arm. The sequence contains survival staples familiar from The Forest and Sons of the Forest but swaps the island setting for a swampy, otherworldly shore and a starship-crash framing device.
Forest 3 borrows the crash-landing hook from the original series’ plane crash intro but otherwise feels like a deliberate break from the prior entries. The trailer briefly shows a partially submerged, zombified torso rising from the water and hints at hostile fauna and environmental threats rather than the dense, tree-clad survival of earlier games.

Endnight has not announced a release window and there was no Steam store page live at the time of the reveal. The studio also did not publish technical or platform details with the trailer. The Forest and Sons of the Forest established Endnight as a developer of tense, first-person survival sims; Forest 3 keeps the perspective and survival mechanics but appears to push the series toward science fiction and unfamiliar biomes. The trailer premiered during The Game Awards broadcast, which streamed on multiple platforms that night, including Prime Video.
