Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project, told attendees at Brazil Game Show 2025 that he expects Part 3, the final chapter of the remake trilogy, to be loved by everyone, appealing to both long-term fans and those who discovered the series through the remakes. As Final Fantasy fans wait for a release date, the team is still working through a large chunk of the story. Hamaguchi framed the trilogy approach as necessary to fully realize the classic using modern tech, rather than trimming it into one game, and he says that decision was partly about doing right by players.
Hamaguchi also spoke about the broader FF7 Remake project and where Part 3 fits in the overall narrative.
“Of course, I already have a clear idea of the ending for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. I think this conclusion will appeal to both those who loved the original and those who became fans of Final Fantasy 7 thanks to the Remake series. I’m confident this new game will be loved by everyone.”
Square Enix has previously said development is progressing smoothly, and Hamaguchi has defended the series after fan concerns by saying Rebirth is doing very well following its release. The exact timing for Part 3 remains unclear. There was almost a four-year gap between the original Remake and Rebirth, so another wait is possible, though the team may be faster now that two installments are complete.
