It’s been nearly a whole year since Final Fantasy 16 first landed in our lives. Square Enix really knows how to keep us on the edge of our seats, huh? It’s been a wild ride between the intense story and the fresh take on gameplay. And guess what? Naoki Yoshida, the game’s mastermind, has been teasing us with some pretty big news. Final Fantasy 16 might not be just for the PlayStation 5 folks much longer.
They’ve been making noise about the second expansion, The Rising Tide, and how they want to bring the magic to PC and maybe even Xbox Series X/S. Since its launch, Final Fantasy 16 has been a gem on the PS5, blending epic storytelling with a world that’s nothing short of magical.
The Rising Tide is set to make a splash on April 18, promising to take our adventure to new heights. Yoshida hinted in a Noisy Pixel interview that they’ve got more tricks up their sleeve even after this expansion. They’re nearly done with the PC version and are casting glances at other platforms, with a sly nod towards Xbox Series X/S. This is a massive deal for Square Enix, aiming to get the game into as many hands as possible, showing they get that we all like our games a little differently.
Hearing about Final Fantasy 16 possibly hitting Xbox Series X/S didn’t exactly come out of left field. There’s been chatter about an Xbox version for a while, which lines up with the industry’s move towards letting games live on more than one platform. This could really throw the doors wide open for the game and dial up the Final Fantasy presence across the major gaming systems.
Final Fantasy 16 has already made quite the splash on PS5, and it sounds like it will only get better from here. Moving to PC and maybe Xbox Series X/S means new places for us to explore and more ways for the game to grow.
As we all wait for The Rising Tide and the PC version to drop, the idea of an Xbox Series X/S release is downright exciting.
