Final Fantasy 11 will stop new character creation on Odin World after a player surge

Square Enix will remove the option to create new characters on the Final Fantasy 11 Odin World server and block transfers into that server starting March 10, 2026, the developer says.

Producer and director Yoji Fujito wrote about the change in a PlayOnline blog post. Fujito said the decision responds to growing congestion on Odin World. “Congestion on the Odin World server has been increasing rapidly,” he wrote in the post, and the team will keep watching login numbers and other indicators with the goal of reopening services when conditions allow.

Automaton also covered the move and linked to the PlayOnline post for Fujito’s remarks, which note that creation and transfer restrictions are precautionary steps to prevent slowdown and other issues that can occur when too many players share a single World. Square Enix previously suspended new character creation and transfers on the game’s two most popular Worlds, Asura and Bahamut, in 2025. Fujito says Asura and Bahamut have seen a “slight decrease” in overall population but that server load “remains relatively unchanged,” so those Worlds will stay closed to new characters for now.

The company says it is balancing ongoing content work with efforts to keep servers stable so players worldwide can continue to enjoy Final Fantasy 11. Final Fantasy XI R

Final Fantasy XI R

Final Fantasy XI R was a remake of the 2002 MMORPG Final Fantasy XI for mobile devices.
Originally announced in 2015, its release window of 2016 had long come and gone, and with no word on the title's development. It continued to be listed under Nexon's upcoming games for years, but no news was heard on its development aside from images leaked in 2018.

In late 2020, rumours circulated that it had been cancelled, and it disappeared from Nexon's upcoming games list.
An official announcement was made in early 2021 that the project had been shelved. According to IGN's article, Nexon and Square Enix "decided the mobile version didn't meet the creative standards Final Fantasy fans have come to expect from the series".

My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!
