Ubisoft released game update 1.03 for Far Cry 3 Classic Edition in January, and the patch adds a free 60 frames-per-second option for the title. The change is strictly a performance option and does not alter gameplay or mechanics. Players can expect smoother frame pacing but no adjustments to weapons, missions, skills, or enemy behavior.

For readers who need a quick refresher, Far Cry 3 is an open world first-person shooter that emphasizes player choice. The game lets players customize weapons and skills and supports multiple approaches to encounters, from run-and-gun combat to stealth and long-range sniping.
The setting is a diverse island environment that includes mountain ranges, swampy grasslands, and beaches. The campaign features a cast of characters led by one of the series most notorious villains, Vaas Montenegro, and the title includes a four-player co-op campaign available online or via split screen. Ubisoft has recently pushed performance updates for older games before. In December 2025 the company released a performance improvement patch for The Division that benefited PS5 owners.
