Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition landed on Monday November 10 and promptly gave mod-heavy playthroughs a headache. Players report a large swath of mods stopped working after the update and user reviews have turned sour, with roughly 41 percent positive across more than 4,500 recent submissions.
The Anniversary Edition was shown during the Fallout Day 2025 broadcast and bundles all DLC, plus a Creations Bundle of 150 Creation Club items. That bundle is drawing especially harsh feedback, with user reviews for the Creations Bundle at about 23 percent positive. Complaints center on broken quests, a heavy lean toward cosmetics, and the need to install files manually one at a time.
Bethesda says a hotfix is coming next week to tackle a number of issues, including problems that stop creations which rely on DLC from working. It also promised two further patches. The first is scheduled for the week beginning Monday November 24 and the second for the first half of December. Bethesda added it will publish an overview of the fixes soon and thanked players for bug reports and support tickets that helped them narrow down issues.
Mod authors are already scrambling. When a previous major revamp hit in April 2024 it caused enough instability that a major fan project, Fallout London, was delayed by three months. Mod creators now face decisions about whether to push out updates quickly for the Anniversary Edition or to wait until the new patches arrive and the situation stabilizes.
There is also a pricing angle. The full Anniversary Edition is listed at USD 59.99 and GBP 52.99. Upgrading from the base game costs USD 39.99 and GBP 35.99. For players who rely on heavy mod setups the safest move is to wait until the hotfix and the later patches land or until creators confirm compatibility with the new build. Expect more detail from Bethesda as the scheduled patch windows approach and more reports from creators as they test their mods on the Anniversary Edition build.
