SCS Software used 2025 to add content and polish to Euro Truck Simulator 2 at a steady clip. The studio pushed map expansions, vehicle updates, completed several rework projects, and launched new modules aimed at driving skills and progression. Among the additions were the Driving Academy module and the Truck Driving Proficiency feature, both of which change how players learn and progress behind the wheel. Visual and systems work arrived across the board, from refreshed regions to updated truck models and interiors.
The year also included seasonal community play. SCS ran the Woven Wonders of Winterland event with themed depots and timed challenges that encouraged group play and streaming activity, and the team published a wrap-up video that collects the year’s highlights for players to watch and comment on. For details about that seasonal run, see the coverage of the Woven Wonders of Winterland event.
On the technical side, the 1.57 open beta brought HDR support, a Scandinavia refresh, dynamic cargo loading, and upgrades to Scania models among other changes. The open beta is worth a look for players interested in the visual and vehicle improvements; read the hands-on patch summary covering the 1.57 open beta.
Community interest stayed high through the year. Euro Truck Simulator 2 hit a fresh Steam concurrent player peak in late 2025 while multiple DLCs and updates were active, a reminder that simulation audiences can still grow years after launch. Console & PC Gaming recorded that spike and the context around it in this summary of the concurrent peak.
The studio’s video team compiled many of these moments in a short recap. Watch the SCS Christmas special for a short preview of the road they have planned for 2026.
SCS thanked the community for support and mileage logged in 2025, and signed off with a classic line: keep on truckin’. Players should expect continued updates and community events as the team moves into the new year.
