Euro Truck Simulator 2 just got a fresh new spot to look at with the addition of Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city! This update is part of the ongoing Project Scandinavia Refresh, and it’s pretty cool to see SCS Software bringing this lively city to life for truckers cruising the E45 motorway.
Aarhus, also known as the City of Smiles, is connected by two major highway junctions and features a mix of current infrastructure and bustling industrial areas. It’s gonna be a hotspot for jobs, especially around the Port of Aarhus, which handles over half of Denmark’s container traffic. If you’re into logistics challenges, this port is one of Europe’s most productive container terminals and offers plenty of delivery opportunities.
Check out the detailed cityscape of Aarhus in ETS2.
One landmark you can’t miss is Dokk1, a great multi-purpose library and cultural hub right on the harborfront. It’s Scandinavia’s largest public library and was named Public Library of the Year in 2016. Nearby, the historic Havnearbejdernes Klub Århus building adds some authentic waterfront charm, once a social spot for dock workers.
Besides the port, you’ll find industrial zones including a chemical factory where you’ll need to brush up on your ADR skills for transporting hazardous materials. I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of extra challenge, right?
The developers didn’t forget the cultural vibe either. You’ll spot sculptures like “Historiske Spor” by Jens Galschiøt and colorful murals that give the streets personality. Plus, some skyline favorites like Aarhus City Hall and the spire of Aarhus Cathedral peek out in the distance, making the city feel alive and authentic.
In the heart of it all is the Aarhus Bus Station, recreated with care and soon to tie into the new Project Coaches module. So whether you’re hauling goods or prepping for passenger transport, Aarhus has something for everyone.
It’s neat to see such a requested city finally make it into the Scandinavia DLC. What’s the first thing you’d deliver or pick up in Aarhus? The port jobs sound tempting, but I might want to check out those cultural spots too. Wow, this update spices up the map!
