It’s been a long road from the barren customs checkpoints of early alpha to the near-complete world of Escape from Tarkov. With only hours left until what Battlestate Games’ founder Nikita Buyanov simply called “wipe zavtra,” the Tarkov faithful are scrambling to clear their stashes, sell off prized loot, and squeeze one last raid of old-school hot drops before the game turns a page.

Why Wipes Matter (Especially the Final One)
Since launch, Escape from Tarkov has reset its economy and our progress multiple times. Each wipe has served two core purposes:
Rebalance the In-Game Economy
- Stop runaway inflation of rubles and rare items
- Keep traders’ prices and player trading markets healthy
Introduce Major Mechanical Changes
- New weapon mods, quest overhauls, and map tweaks
- Big-ticket content like Shoreline’s resort, Labs’ deep underground, or the scav boss reworks
But none of these wipes have carried as much weight as the last wipe before the commercial 1.0 release. Once the game reaches version 1.0, Battlestate will freeze the economy, eliminate forced resets (at least for nowthat many), and leave the living economy in the hands of players and live-ops updates.
What to Expect on July 9
- Server Downtime: Usually 6+ hours. Expect an announcement from Battlestate’s Discord, and Twitter feeds an hour or so beforehand.
- Patch Notes: We can expect a lengthy list of updates, including bug fixes, UI improvements, and possibly the first 1.0-branded features.
- Economy Reset: Your stash goes back to zero, traders’ levels drop to 1, and all gear goes back to the default trader loots.
Pro Tip: Log in 30 minutes before the scheduled wipe. Blizzard-style server queues might kick in, so give yourself a time cushion.
It’s about to go down, and I couldn’t be happier-I’m more than ready for tomorrow. With that said, let’s see what happens when the update lands tomorrow morning.
