Escape from Tarkov Softcore gets a beautiful balancing pass ahead of 1.0

Battlestate Games adjusts inertia, aim punch, XP gains, loot density, and Flea Market access in Softcore as the game moves toward the November 15 1.0 launch.

Escape from Tarkov Softcore just received a sweeping set of balance tweaks that touch movement, gunplay, progression, economy access, and loot density. Introduced by Battlestate Games, the changes are scheduled to be rolled out ahead of the full version 1.0 release, which is targeted for November 15, 2025. The focus sits on making heavier loadouts feel less punishing, reducing aim disruption during firefights, and speeding up early progression while opening up more opportunities to find valuable items.

Movement is definitely something everyone would love to talk about today. The inertia now scales less harshly with high carried weight, so bulky rigs should handle better during pushes and rotations. At the same time, combat stability improves through a 60% cut to aim punch, which should reduce sudden sight picture jolts after taking hits. The overweight threshold rises by 50%, delaying the point at which stamina and speed penalties take effect.

Progression gets a nudge forward. PMC skill leveling has been increased, tuned per skill, and successful raid experience now multiplies higher. The economy is also booming, at least for those who have been struggling a lot. Flea Market restrictions are lifted, and entry arrives at level 10 with an initial cap that lets players list up to five items, a change that should make early trading feel less gated.

Loot paths and barters expand. Expect more valuable-item containers across every location, plus additional duffle bags, stashes, and fresh container spawns in marked rooms. The Lab becomes a hotter target thanks to higher colored keycard spawn chances. New dogtag barters appear at LL2 traders, giving mid-tier characters more ways to convert PvP results into practical gear. Limited Hardcore Wipe achievements can no longer be earned, reflecting the current balance direction.

Patch Notes

  • Reduced the inertia dependency on carried weight – the inertia now has significantly less impact with the heavier loads;
  • Reduced the aim punch effect by 60%;
  • Increased the overweight status threshold by 50%;
  • Added new dogtag barters for various equipment at LL2 traders;
  • Increased the number of valuable item containers on all locations;
  • Increased the number of duffle bags and stashes on all locations;
  • Added various container spawns in marked rooms;
  • Increased the colored keycard spawn chances in The Lab;
  • Removed the listing restrictions on the Flea Market;
  • Added access to the Flea Market at player level 10 with the initial ability to list up to 5 items;
  • Increased the PMC skill leveling speed, adjusted individually;
  • Increased the successful raid experience multiplier;
  • Removed the ability to earn the limited Hardcore Wipe achievements.

Join the discussion and tell us how these Softcore changes feel in raids, from heavier kit handling to the faster climb through early levels.
