Battlestate Games released patch 1.0.1.0 for Escape From Tarkov on December 24, 2025. The update adds a new in-game event called Kolotun, winter-themed clothing and equipment, the M110 SASS marksman rifle, and multiple matchmaking and quality-of-life adjustments.
Players are reporting trouble entering matchmaking after the patch; Battlestate has acknowledged the issue in a public post on X. Tarkov on X notes the team is aware and working on it. The Kolotun event makes the cold itself a gameplay factor, players will slowly freeze while outdoors and must find shelter or warming sources to avoid penalties. The event includes a themed task chain, event rewards, and a unique achievement available in both PvP and PvE.
For a recent related update from the studio, Battlestate also added a streamer balaclava item earlier this month; coverage of that item is available here.
Patch Notes
Overview: Patch 1.0.1.0 focuses on winter content and event systems, matchmaking transparency, and numerous bug fixes. The Kolotun event is the headline addition and affects both PvP and PvE raids.
