Escape From Tarkov, the hardcore and realistic first-person shooter, is known for its dynamic in-game universe and occasional “wipes” that reset all player progress. A recent tweet from the game’s official has just announced that a new event is on the horizon, with the potential of a pre-wipe event series coming shortly.
The tweet centers on a message from Fence, a unique trader within Tarkov whose inventory is based on player input. In this message, Fence takes a stand against corporations and PMCs, claiming control over Tarkov and the surrounding Norvinsk region.
Event Details
So far, this is what we know:
- Scaving is free.
- There’s also an official website URL leading to further data about the event: https://www.escapefromtarkov.com/openmap (including free map rotations).
- As a PMC, Customs is the only free map you can enter atm. (It’s part of a rotation, next is Reserve.)
- You can queue for free if you’re poor in-game or a new player.
- Streets – AHF1-M
- Interchange – Red Gunpowder
- Woods – DFuel
- Factory – Aquamari
- Reserve – Gold skull ring
- Lighthouse – LCD
- Shoreline – COFDM
- While it’s still early, this event could welcome the new boss on Streets of Tarkov.
Traditionally, pre-wipe events in Escape From Tarkov serve as a means to shake up the game’s meta, allowing players to experience unique and often chaotic gameplay scenarios. These events tend to ignite excitement and curiosity among the players as they adapt to unexpected conditions in anticipation of the invite.
Fence’s announcement suggests new dynamics for the gameplay. The claim that “all known roads, paths, and passages on the outskirts and the city from now on have been blocked off by our people,” indicates a possible change in the traversal mechanics, which could potentially affect looting and escape strategies. He also mentions a “pass” required to get through, but it won’t be monetary. What this “pass” might be is yet unknown, adding a new layer of intrigue.
While this may sound new to many, it could be very well related to the region lock that’s been announced in the past, which will require players to give something (in-raid) to traverse to another location. This was also previously discussed by BSG and might be a part of the game after the next wipe.
