Escape from Tarkov ending leaves full squads one player short

Escape from Tarkov ships with story endings after the 1.0 milestone, and a new social revelation has exposed a brutal wrinkle in the final Terminal evacuation sequence. Players who reach the extraction with four or five teammates discovered the Zubr boat does not have room for everyone. The restriction appears as an in-game message during the Terminal finale. The message reads exactly:

The Zubr boat cannot take everyone. The evacuation will begin only when there are 3 people left on the pier.

That line means a full squad must become a trio before the evacuation begins. In practice the choice is grim but obvious, someone must be left behind or killed to let the rest get out. The revelation spread quickly after creator Axel posted a screenshot of the message on X, highlighting how the ending forces a last-minute decision between teammates. You can find Axel’s post below:

The mechanic underlines the ruthless design Battlestate Games built into Escape from Tarkov’s narrative finish. It also changes how groups will approach the final mission strategically and socially. Players attempting the Savior ending or other story conclusions will now have to plan extra contingencies if they run with a four- or five-player squad.

Community reaction has been split between amused resignation and genuine annoyance. Several threads noted that this kind of outcome fits Tarkov’s extraction shooter ethos. The discussion followed recent attention on the game’s endings after the Savior ending was captured and shared this week, which pointed toward broader story implications for the franchise. The Savior ending coverage examines the wider stakes players have been chasing.

The Terminal evacuation restriction also intersects with other live changes players are still discovering, like new enemy spawns appearing across maps. Those reports show how the game’s post-1.0 environment is still shifting even as groups tackle the endings. Players spotting Black Division fighters gives examples of how encounters are changing on older maps.
