Escape From Tarkov accounts wiped because of a weird security flaw

Escape From Tarkov opened the game to find entire profiles reset. Instead of their usual PMC, they were greeted by the initial faction and name selection screen. Reports across social boards and social media point to a site vulnerability that permits a third party to wipe accounts and change passwords even when two-factor authentication is enabled. Players say changing a password currently does not force the attacker out of the account.

Who’s been hit

The problem is not limited to small accounts. Streamers and community creators were among the worst affected, with notable names including DrLupo and BAXBEAST reporting severe progress loss. BAXBEAST said a level 53 account was reset while it was on the verge of Prestige 5; the claim is in his post on X. Community resource creator LogicalSolutions also reported a wipe and indicated that Battlestate Games is aware of the issue.

Current workaround and what to do

At present the only reliable step players have been told is to open a support ticket with Battlestate and ask for an account lock, then re-login with new credentials once support confirms the lock. Players should also monitor official channels for follow-up guidance from the developer. For context on how many people this affects, Tarkov has been selling strongly since its 1.0 release; the game sold one million copies in one month in mid-December, so any large-scale exploit risks touching a lot of progress across the player base.

BattleState’s official site and support hub are the best places to file tickets and check for updates, EscapeFromTarkov.com. The game is also available on Steam. We will update this story as Battlestate publishes a patch or public advisory. For now, players who value their progress should contact support and avoid assuming a password change alone will restore account safety.
