Escape From Duckov broke a big Steam milestone on Oct 26, topping 300,000 concurrent players just ten days after launch. The spike is visible on SteamDB, underscoring how many players have been drawn to this strange little take on the extraction shooter format. The game leans hard into its meme-friendly coat of paint, but beneath the gag is a solid top-down shooter that folds extraction mechanics into a roguelite single-player loop. Players raid maps for loot, return to their base to upgrade gear and stations, and pick up little oddities like fishing minigames between runs. That mix has clearly clicked with many people in a short time.
Numbers and noise. Besides the concurrent peak, Duckov has been moving copies fast. Our earlier coverage noted that it sold half a million Steam copies in the first three days, and the player base shows signs of being heavily weighted toward China, as seen on the global charts. Those pieces help explain how the game reached this level so quickly; a large regional audience plus strong early sales equal prominent concurrent figures. For context, Duckov’s early peak dwarfs some recent indie launches and is roughly double the concurrent peak of some other highly anticipated releases. That comparison was the subject of an internal look at concurrent tallies and chart placements on our site.
What this does not tell you is how long the run will last. High concurrent numbers in launch week are one thing; stable retention is another. Team Soda still has work to do on post-launch updates and tuning, and the community will decide whether Duckov keeps drawing players or settles into a smaller, steady audience. Suppose you want a quick primer on why Duckov feels familiar but different. In that case, our initial write-up delves into the Tarkov echoes and how the game makes the formula more approachable for solo players. We also have an explainer on its rapid sales performance and a look at regional player distribution on Steam.
