The Epic Games Store began 2026 by handing out two very different freebies: Total War: Three Kingdoms and Wildgate. Both games are free to add to your library until January 8, 2026 at 16:00 GMT for anyone with an Epic account.
Total War: Three Kingdoms is a grand strategy entry that drops players into China in 190 AD during the collapse of the Han dynasty. Players manage warlords, armies, and diplomacy as they try to build an empire through turn-based campaign strategy and large real-time battles.
Wildgate is a multiplayer first-person shooter built around ship-to-ship combat and extraction-style encounters. The game’s hybrid design blends arena fighting with looting and escape mechanics, and Epic’s giveaway is an obvious attempt to bring more people into its servers.
How to claim
To grab these games, install the Epic Games launcher or visit the store on PC, sign in or create an account, then open the Free Games section. Click the game, choose Get, and Place Order to add it to your library permanently. The titles will show as “FREE NOW” on their thumbnails while the giveaway is active.
Epic kept the freebies rolling through the end of 2025 as well. The store wrapped up the holiday stretch with Chivalry 2 on January 1, 2026, and it previously offered Hogwarts Legacy during December. For players who want more free picks, Epic lists upcoming and current giveaways in the Free Games section of the launcher.
These giveaways are a simple way to expand a PC library without spending money, and they can also give lower-population multiplayer games a quick player boost. If you plan to try Wildgate, the free window is the best moment to jump in while more people are available for matches.
