The Epic Games Store has added a gifting feature, Epic announced in an official blog post on November 18, 2025. The new system lets users buy paid games, certain editions, add-ons, and bundles for people on their Epic friends list and either send them immediately or schedule delivery.
How gifting works
Epic describes the flow as straightforward and familiar. To gift a title, pick a game on the Epic Games Store and choose Buy as a Gift. Then select a recipient from your Epic friends list, choose to deliver the gift now or schedule it for a future date, and complete the purchase. The recipient has two weeks to accept the gift. If they decline or do not accept within that window, Epic issues a refund to the buyer.
- Choose a game and select Buy as a Gift.
- Pick an Epic friend as the recipient.
- Send now or schedule the delivery.
- The recipient has 14 days to accept; otherwise, the buyer is refunded.
What you can and cannot gift
The gifting system covers paid games, certain editions, add-ons, and bundles. It does not apply to in-game currency, subscriptions, free games, or pre-purchase offers. Epic has a quick how to page with more details for users who want step by step instructions. Read Epic’s announcement and the support guide for complete rules and edge cases on the official pages: Epic Games Store blog post about gifting and the Epic gifting guide.
Steam has offered gifting for years, and many players have asked Epic for the same capability. Adding gifts makes the Epic storefront more directly competitive for holiday purchases and for anyone who wants to surprise a friend without fuss. The scheduling option and the two-week acceptance window keep the process tidy for both buyer and recipient. Expect developers and stores to tune pricing and bundles for gift-friendly deals as we move deeper into the holiday season.
