Enlisted is making a surprising change to its upcoming Forest Shadows update after listening closely to player feedback from the Test Server. Instead of the previously announced PPSh-41 (S), players will now get a 20-round variant of the AVT-40 as the new battle rating V weapon.
This AVT-40 model will appear at the end of the rifle research tree, giving a fresh option for those who’ve already seen the AVT-40 in higher battle ratings. The twist? This variant, combined with recent fire rate tweaks to the AVS 36, promises to disrupt combat dynamics. Meanwhile, the 15-round AVT-40 is getting a recoil reduction, letting players decide whether to prioritize magazine size or accuracy.
The PPSh-41 (S) won’t be lost forever—it’s being saved as a rare, special weapon for future content. The developers acknowledged concerns that it felt too distinctive and out of place in the research tree, so this move respects that uniqueness.
It’s worth noting this is the first time Enlisted has altered major update content after Test Server feedback. It’s a rare moment for developers to shift midstream plans, and it shows a commendable willingness to adapt. Player voices clearly made a difference here.
What do you think about swapping out the PPSh-41 (S) for the AVT-40 variant? Is the recoil trade-off on the 15-round AVT-40 a fair balance? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
