If you’ve been curious about Battlefield 2042 but haven’t had a chance to play it, now might be the time to dive in. Electronic Arts lets gamers play Battlefield 2042 for free until October 16th. This coincides with the Open Beta phase for another popular shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
When Battlefield 2042 debuted in November 2021, it wasn’t smooth sailing. The game had many negative reviews, primarily due to bugs and glitches. Many players took to Steam to express their dissatisfaction, which led to the game receiving Mostly Negative Reviews on the platform. However, DICE, the game’s developer, has been tricky at work fixing the issues. Thanks to a series of updates, the game’s rating has improved to Mixed Reviews on Steam.
This free-to-play period isn’t a watered-down version of the game. You’ll have access to all the game’s features, including the newly released Season 6: Dark Creations. This latest season brings a new Redacted map designed for close-quarters combat. Players can also expect to see new weapons and gadgets and the opportunity to progress through 100 tiers of Battle Pass content.
If you’re interested, you can download Battlefield 2042 directly from its Steam page, which you can find here.
In addition to making Battlefield 2042 free for a limited time, EA is also cutting prices for its older Battlefield games. Discounts go as high as 84%, so if you’ve been thinking about picking up a more senior title in the series, now’s a good chance to get it at a lower price.
