Notorious Studios’ Eldegarde has moved out of early access and reached version 1.0 on January 21, 2026, launching on Steam as a fantasy extraction “mini MMO.” The studio rebranded the game from Legacy: Steel and Sorcery before polishing its systems for full release.
The game mixes World of Warcraft style MMO mechanics with extraction gameplay similar to Arc Raiders and Escape From Tarkov. Players drop into sprawling fantasy zones, loot gear and try to exfiltrate back to safety. In Extraction mode death costs everything players are carrying on the run. Eldegarde ships with six playable classes and a seventh promised for a future update. The 1.0 update specifically adds the Wizard and Paladin classes to the roster. Players can go solo or team up in squads to tackle runs and objectives.
The launch build includes five maps to explore, 17 mainline campaign quests, and more than 110 daily and weekly challenges. Progress unlocks vendor reputation and better gear. The game also features a player homestead system so users can build and customize a housing space. There are two main playstreams. PvE Expeditions cater to players who prefer structured PvE runs, while the PvPvE Extraction mode offers the tense, high-stakes matches where other players and environmental threats can cost you your haul.
Eldegarde spent time in early access and had a rough start. Early impressions during Steam Next Fest in October 2024 noted performance issues, and some players encountered strange bugs that could disrupt runs. The game has since stabilized enough to climb the Steam charts and sits at 71% positive lifetime reviews. Eldegarde’s 1.0 is available on Steam for $24.99 / A321.99. You can find it on the Steam store here. The game aims to offer shorter, more focused fantasy runs compared with sprawling MMO commitments. Players who prefer quick, tension-filled sessions may find the extraction loop a better fit than traditional subscription or grind-heavy designs.
