As you may have noticed, Escape From Tarkov is planning to install a new technical update tomorrow, November 28. As per Battlestate Games, the installation will start at 7AM GMT / 2AM EST. The maintenance is planned to take approximately 4 hours but may be extended if required. This update is likely in relation to the coming wipe.
Considering it’s Monday, this update is probably going to introduce a pre-wipe event of some sort. Escape From Tarkov is always hosting these types of events before the big bang occurs. So far, we have received a couple of events, but the main one is when the stock price pummels down, and that one hasn’t come yet. If I was to guess, this is either connected to feature testing, a pre-wipe event, or, best-case scenario, a surprising wipe.
Over the past period, Battlestate Games has been working on improving the sound positioning system and a new transport architecture for data exchange between the client and the backend. That said, this could also be an update to test these new features out, but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow and witness the changes once they anchor.

Patch Notes
Battlestate Games hasn’t revealed detailed patch notes but has said that they are introducing players to something similar to a region lock. It’s not a region lock, no, but players can only choose regions that correspond to their geographical locations. As per BSG:
In this update, we have migrated data centers to virtual regions. Players can no longer choose a specific data center (server) in the launcher. Instead, they can choose a region that corresponds to their geographical location. The initial region selection will be done automatically based on the data centers selected before the update.
