EA SPORTS has confirmed plans to extend F1 25 beyond its base season with a paid expansion that brings the game up to the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship, followed by a reworked F1 game in 2027. The announcement appears on Steam and explains that the paid expansion will add new cars, sporting regulations, teams, and drivers that will debut in the 2026 season. The expansion will be sold separately from the F1 25 base game.
This lets players keep racing on a single title through the significant rule changes coming to the sport without buying an entirely new release for 2026. EA SPORTS says the decision is part of a reset for the F1 franchise, culminating in a new game in 2027 that will look and play differently and offer more gameplay choices.
“F1 25 has been an incredible success, fueled by the passion of fans and the energy of the sport. With Formula 1’s momentum on and off the track, now is the perfect time for us to look ahead and build for the future We’re fully committed to the EA SPORTS F1 franchise. Our multi-year plan extends this year’s excitement with the 2026 expansion and reimagines the F1 experience for 2027 to deliver even more for players at every level around the world.”

The post also highlights current in-game content for F1 25. Players can jump into Season 4 now, where a new Survival Challenge mode is live, offering time-limited unlockables such as special liveries and helmets that mirror items seen during the real-world season. Codemasters notes that familiar features remain in the game. F1 25 includes the story mode Braking Point, an updated My Team mode that lets players act as Team Owner, and the Chapter Scenarios pack, which enables players to drive the APXGP team car through scenarios inspired by F1 The Movie. Chapter Scenarios and the paid expansion require owning the base F1 25 game and staying up to date with game updates and an EA account where applicable.
