E3 Logs Out, Once Gaming’s Biggest Show Takes Its Final Bow

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has decided to hit the ‘game over’ button on E3. This decision ends a tale that has been as thrilling as a last-minute save in a battle royale.

Stanley Pierre-Louis, ESA’s president and the bearer of the not-so-cheery news, stated, “After more than two decades, E3 is hanging up its controller. While we’ve loved being the high-score holders in industry showcases, it’s time to pass the baton.”

Humor aside, E3’s closure is emblematic of a shift in the gaming industry. Pierre-Louis acknowledged the changing landscape, noting that while E3 had evolved to include fans in its later years, its core purpose as a marketing and business hub has been overshadowed by the digital era. “Companies can now reach their audience directly, making E3 more of a nostalgic relic than a necessity,” he said, likely causing a collective nod from gamers streaming game launches in their pajamas.

The ESA’s decision, while emotional for many, seems to be a nod to the future, embracing the evolving ways we interact with gaming. It’s an acknowledgment that, just like in gaming, sometimes you have to adapt to survive, or, in this case, let go.

I've spent half of my life playing video games, ever since the competitive 1.6 era. Now I am happily married to Margarita Kicevski, and have two beautiful children. My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!
