Bethesda has recently lifted the preview embargo for Doom: The Dark Ages, leading to the release of several gameplay videos online. Two notable PC videos showcase how this latest entry in the iconic series performs on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090.
These two 4K videos glimpse the preview build’s performance, although it’s important to note that they run without Path Tracing. Interestingly, neither Xboxygen nor Cerealkillerz included information regarding the specific graphics settings used nor provided a Performance Overlay. As such, we lack exact details on the framerates achieved by the RTX 5090 at 4K resolution.
Doom: The Dark Ages is a single-player, action FPS prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. Players will once again take on the role of the legendary demon-slayer known as the DOOM Slayer, battling incessantly against forces from Hell.
A standout feature of this newest title is its parry system. While keeping true to the fast-paced nature of Doom games, players can now parry attacks—a mechanic reminiscent of Doom (2016) and Sekiro. However, it’s worth noting that, unlike Sekiro’s tightly-timed parries, Doom’s window isn’t quite as strict. This offers a fresh twist while still retaining that classic frenetic combat style fans have come to love.
Please remember that these gameplay clips stem from a preview build and may not fully represent what players can expect upon final release. With just two months until launch, however, it’s reasonable to expect that much of what we’ve seen here will carry over into the completed game.
Bethesda plans to release Doom officially: The Dark Ages on May 15th. You can enjoy watching these interesting new gameplay clips below:
