Donkey Kong Land Joins Nintendo Switch Online: A Retro Adventure Awaits!

The gaming world just got a bit more exciting as Nintendo Switch has added the classic Donkey Kong Land to its retro catalog! Yes, you heard it right, It’s time to dust off those platforming skills and jump back into this nostalgic gem!

This Game Boy classic, released in 1995, can now be enjoyed through the Game Boy app on Nintendo’s online service. Can we take a moment to appreciate how much fun we had with our little handhelds? It’s like holding a slice of nostalgia in your hands!

Developed by the iconic Rare, Donkey Kong Land was praised for bringing that charming art style from SNES’s Donkey Kong Country onto the Game Boy. Seriously, though, who didn’t love those graphics? But wait, don’t go thinking it’s just a port. This game features entirely unique stages and challenges that keep things interesting.

The plot is quite cheeky, too! According to the manual, after Cranky Kong claims that DK Country sold well solely because of its graphics, our heroes decide to let King K Rool snag their beloved banana stash again, just to prove that gameplay matters even on an 8-bit handheld! 😂 Talk about taking one for the team!

This addition bumps the total number of Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles available on Switch Online to 30 in Western regions. And if you’re in Japan? Lucky you, you get two extra games (Yakuman and The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls)! 🌟

If you’re wondering about access costs for all these delightful classics, Game Boy and Game Boy Color games are part of your standard Switch Online subscription. That’s €3.99/$3.99 for one month or €19.99/$19.99 for a whole year! Worth it when you think about diving back into your childhood favorites.

The membership also unlocks NES and SNES libraries, a treasure trove waiting for gamers like us! Plus, if you want even more bang for your buck (and are okay with paying extra), you can always subscribe to the Expansion Pack for access to N64 and Mega Drive/Genesis games.

So what do you think? Are you ready to swing through levels with Donkey and Diddy once again? Let me know your thoughts below! Much love to everyone, have a great day!
