If you’ve ever found yourself humming the catchy tunes from the Donkey Kong series or reminiscing about those colorful jungle levels, then you’re in for a treat. The big fella and his buddy Diddy are returning with Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, and it’s just around the corner!
Nintendo seems to be taking a stroll down memory lane, opting for ports instead of new titles. It’s been over a decade since we saw a fresh DK game with Tropical Freeze, which made its way to the Switch in 2018. They’re returning the classic Donkey Kong: Country Returns, originally released on Wii. Isn’t that something?
I can’t help but wonder if this is Nintendo’s way of winding down before unveiling their next console, maybe even the rumored Nintendo Switch 2. Regardless, we agree that seeing our favorite ape again is never a bad idea!
When is the Donkey Kong Country Returns Switch Release Date?
The release date for Donkey Kong Country Returns on Nintendo Switch is January 16.
You heard that right! Just days away from now, fans will get to enjoy this HD port of Country Returns. When it first launched on Wii, it was pretty impressive; now, we’ll see how it shines on today’s hardware.
This version promises some extra content,t too. Levels from its earlier 3DS iteration will also make an appearance alongside:
- Over 80+ levels
- 9 Worlds
- Boss Battles galore!
- A treasure trove of collectibles
- Time Attack levels for speedrunners!
- Local co-op play!
Donkey Kong Country Returns Switch Release Time?
The game should launch at midnight local time everywhere.
If there’s any special release timing planned by Nintendo, they usually let us know ahead of time. So far, though? Nothing has popped up suggesting otherwise. That means you might want to keep your eyes peeled as different time zones get to jump into DK’s world first, oh boy! I’m feeling that anticipation here in the UK.
