Battlefield 6 players curious about bots in the beta finally got some clarity from DICE. Instead of bots being sprinkled everywhere, AI soldiers only appear in the Training Grounds playlists during the Open Beta. So your typical Breakthrough matches won’t be packed with bots, just real players.
The official Battlefield 6 communications team explained that Training Grounds playlists exist to help newcomers get a feel for Breakthrough mode. Here, 15 human players battle it out, and bots fill the rest of the slots to keep things lively. This setup is called “Breakthrough Initiation” for now.

Once you hit rank 15, Training Grounds vanish from the front end, and you can jump into Breakthrough without bots by selecting it from the Featured playlist. So, if you want pure player-versus-player action, that’s where you’ll find it.
Lots of folks have been flooding the beta, with hundreds of thousands joining before the official open beta on August 9. If you were worried about bots sneaking into regular matches, you can breathe easy, they won’t be part of the standard lineups during the beta.
That said, bots will still be a thing when needed. DICE’s Jac Carlsson mentioned bots will fill lobbies if there aren’t enough players, and they’ll be part of custom Portal modes designed for practice and improvement.
So, are you jumping into the Battlefield 6 beta this weekend or next? Curious how bots affect your experience?
