Devolver Digital announced today that they had acquired the Croatian game development studio Croteam. However, according to Devolver, Croteam will get to keep their creative freedom while they’ll publish their titles. Furthermore, Croteam will be working on future Serious Sam games, The Talos Principle 2, and some other IP titles.
We hope that Devolver will deliver the necessary funds to Croteam for better polished and optimized games. Serious Sam 4 was a great and fun game where you got to shoot demons while defending the Earth-like in the previous titles. However, its optimization for the PC wasn’t so smooth. The graphics of the game were also sort of outdated compared to today’s standards.
The Serious Sam franchise was significant for video game graphics back in the day because it looked amazing by the time’s standards. However, we’ve seen the series struggle as of late. We hope that Devolver will do the right thing and bring it back to its once glorious standards.
Another popular title by Croteam, The Talos Principle, is also worth checking out if you’re a fan of puzzle games. It was critically acclaimed when it got released in 2014, getting 9/10 to 10/10 reviews everywhere!
