Destiny 2 is preparing for its annual summer Solstice event, kicking off on August 5 with the weekly reset. This limited-time celebration will last two weeks, wrapping up on August 19, and offers Guardians new gear to pursue and upgrade. It’s a solid opportunity to freshen up your loadout before the season shifts.
The event is part of The Edge of Fate update and introduces two new weapons: Festival Flight, an Area Denial grenade launcher, and Yeartide Apex, a Lightweight SMG. Both weapons come with interesting perk pools that could appeal to different playstyles in both PvE and PvP.
Weapons & Perks
Festival Flight and Yeartide Apex each have two columns of perks to choose from. Here’s the full list:
Weapon | Archetype | Perk 1 | Perk 2 |
---|---|---|---|
Yeartide Apex | Lightweight | Transcendent Moment Recycled Energy Heal Clip Feeding Frenzy Lone Wolf Attrition Orbs Demolitionist |
Burning Ambition Binary Orbit Incandescent Harmony Chaos Reshaped Target Lock |
Festival Flight | Area Denial | Blast Distributor Demolitionist Recycled Energy Transcendent Moment Envious Arsenal Ambitious Assassin Slice |
Binary Orbit Frenzy One For All Vorpal Weapon Attrition Orbs Hatchling Elemental Honing |
Meta Analysis
Yeartide Apex looks like a strong choice. For PvE, perks like Heal Clip and Incandescent will work well with Solar builds. In PvP, Lone Wolf paired with Target Lock might be a combo worth hunting down. Ever wonder if this SMG will disrupt Crucible matches? It just might.
Festival Flight could be a solid option for Strand builds. It has the potential to generate Orbs, even though Attrition Orbs have been nerfed recently. Pairing it with Envious Arsenal might still make it a handy special weapon for clearing adds and building Supers.
Armor
Two armor sets are available during Solstice 2025. One has a vacation-themed look and will be sold as armor ornaments through Destiny 2’s Eververse store.
The other set can be earned in-game by completing tasks and objectives, with each piece gaining a visual glow once unlocked. That pretty much covers what you need to know about Solstice 2025.
