Bungie has published its latest This Week in Destiny update for March 12, 2026, and while this week’s blog is lighter than usual, it still brings a new Community Challenge, a fresh New Player Guide chapter, updated Portal modifiers, Trials of Osiris rewards, and an early tease for Guardian Games.
The biggest highlight this week is Postcards from the Frontier, a new community event tied to Destiny 2: Renegades that asks players to share their best scenic screenshots from the expansion.
Bungie Launches Postcards from the Frontier Community Challenge
For this latest Community Challenge, Bungie wants Guardians to show off the most memorable environments and vistas they can find in Destiny 2: Renegades. Instead of testing raid clears, dungeon performance, or PvP skill, this challenge is centered around creativity and exploration.
Players are encouraged to capture locations from Mars, Venus, Europa, or beyond, with Bungie specifically asking for screenshots inspired by the Renegades experience. Guardians can wear Renegades-themed armor, but Bungie says other styles are also welcome if they fit the scene.
To qualify, players need to capture at least two screenshots and post them on Bluesky, Twitter/X, Instagram, or Reddit. Bungie also asks players to include their full Bungie ID, including numbers, in the original submission post. While the #RenegadesPostcard hashtag is not mandatory, Bungie says it helps the team locate entries more easily.
Selected winners will receive the Golden Age emblem, with Bungie planning to highlight favorite submissions on March 19 and March 26. The challenge will run until April 16, and rewards may take up to 30 days after the event ends to be distributed.
Generative AI Submissions Will Be Disqualified
Bungie made it clear that any use of generative AI is not allowed for this challenge and will result in automatic disqualification.
The studio also noted that if a winning entry is later found to have used generative AI, any reward granted may be revoked. In addition, players must have their Bungie account in good standing to receive rewards, and violations of the game’s Code of Conduct may lead to further action.
To help players take cleaner screenshots, Bungie also shared a quick way to disable the interface:
- Open the Director
- Navigate to Settings
- Go to the Gameplay tab
- Set HUD Opacity to Off
New Player Guide Adds a Buildcrafting Basics Chapter
Bungie also announced that the next chapter of its Destiny 2 New Player Guide is now live, this time focusing on how to make builds.
Rather than simply offering a list of strong loadouts, Bungie says this guide is meant to teach players the core principles of buildcrafting so they can better understand the system and create effective setups on their own. It is a more open-ended approach designed to help new players learn the fundamentals instead of copying a single meta recommendation.
Active and Upcoming Activities
Suros Week: March 10 to March 17
During Suros Week, all Suros foundry weapons are overcharged in Portal activities, allowing them to deal extra damage to enemies. Bungie specifically highlighted weapons like Motif-41 and Monody-44.
Trials of Osiris: March 13 to March 17
This weekend’s Trials of Osiris lineup includes:
- Map: Javelin-4
- Reward: Corundum Hammer
Bungie described it as a strong combination for players looking to chase more rolls on a top-tier Hand Cannon, including possible PvE-focused rolls.
Next Week’s Trials Rotation
Bungie also confirmed the following Trials setup for next week:
- Map: Altar of Flame
- Reward: The Immortal
Heavy Ammo Surge: March 17 to March 24
Following last week’s Special Ammo Surge, Bungie says the Portal will feature Heavy Ammo Surge from March 17 through March 24. This modifier allows Power weapons to recharge ammo, giving players more freedom to lean heavily into rockets and other high-damage heavy weapons.
Known Issues This Week
Bungie’s Player Support report also highlighted several current issues affecting the game:
- Generators in the Fearsome Retainer Renegades mission cannot be damaged by alt-fire missiles or stomp attacks, though they can still be destroyed using primary fire lasers.
- Tempest Strike cannot be used while a Renegade Ability Jammer is active.
- In rare cases, players who are pulled forward into the Epoptes encounter in The Desert Perpetual (Epic) may become stuck on a black screen until the fireteam wipes.
- Wolfsbane light attacks are showing Void visual effects instead of Solar.
Guardian Games Starts March 24
To wrap up the week, Bungie teased that next week’s update will include more details about Guardian Games, which is set to begin on March 24. The developer also said the team is continuing work on the game’s June update and hinted at more news to come regarding armor set bonuses, possible perk combinations for raid and dungeon weapons, and even Pantheon 2.0 gear plans.
While this week’s TWID is lighter on major reveals, it still gives players a few reasons to check in, especially those interested in community events, rotating activities, and what Bungie is preparing next for Destiny 2.
