Destiny 2 players should prepare for a price increase in Season Passes as Bungie recently announced changes to the pricing structure beginning with Season 21, Season of the Deep. The developer explained in their official blog post that the price changes result from their ongoing investment in crafting compelling seasonal experiences during the year of Lightfall.
The new pricing structure for the Season Passes is as follows:
- Season Pass: Price will increase from 1,000 Silver to 1,200 Silver
- Season Pass + 10 Ranks Bundle: Price will increase from 2,000 Silver to 2,200 Silver
These price changes will require players to purchase two Silver bundles to afford the new Season Pass, as opposed to the single bundle needed previously. With the new season pass price of 1,200 Silver, players must buy a 500 Silver bundle ($4.99) and a 1,100 Silver bundle ($9.99) to have enough Silver for the pass, making the total cost $14.98.
Bungie has stated that this will be the new pricing for Season Passes during Lightfall’s year while they will be evaluating new approaches to post-launch content in the year of The Final Shape. However, the pricing for the Lightfall standard edition (which includes access to the current live Season at the time of purchase) and the Lightfall + Annual Pass edition (which has access to Seasons 20-23) will remain unchanged.
Season of the Deep will launch on May 23 at 10 am PT. In their blog post, Bungie also provided the first look at Season of the Deep with crucial art and shared details on three new Strand Aspects, changes to the in-game economy, and quality-of-life updates coming to the game. Players can look forward to these new features and adjustments as they continue to enjoy Destiny 2.
