Destiny 2 launches an Open Access Week to coincide with the release of Destiny 2: Renegades, running from December 2 at 9:00 AM PT until December 9 at 9:59 AM PT. During that window, all currently available expansions, including The Edge of Fate, plus raids, dungeons, and content packs are playable on all platforms at no extra cost.
Players who jump in can earn in-game currencies, weapons, armor, Titles, Triumphs, and cosmetics, and Bungie says everything gained during the week will remain tied to accounts afterward. The free access covers the full range of activities, so this is a straightforward way to try endgame content without buying expansions first.
The Edge of Fate is explicitly included in the open access period, and recent developer discussion around that expansion is still active in the community. More on the expansion and the team’s responses can be found in Destiny 2 Dev Responds to Claims of Hidden Nerfs in The Edge of Fate Expansion.
Open Access Week runs across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, so account linking and platform choices matter if you plan to preserve earned items on a different platform later. If players like what they see, purchasing the new expansion will keep progress and cosmetics earned during the free period.
