Load times on the PS5 have been good for a while, but Death Stranding 2: On the Beach took things to a new level. Seriously, this game boots up so fast that you might miss it if you blink. The speed is unbelievable, especially given how massive and detailed the game’s world is.
Thanks to the PS5’s solid-state drive, many titles have quick load screens, but nothing quite like this. A clip shared by Digital Foundry shows the game loading in just about 1.2 seconds from the main menu to complete control, described as “virtually instantaneous.” That’s insane! The fade to black is so brief it’s barely noticeable, making the transition seamless.
Death Stranding 2 has the fastest loading time I've EVER seen in a video game.

What’s wild is that this blazing speed happens even with save files boasting over 70 hours of gameplay. Usually, longer saves mean longer load times, right? Not here. The game handles it like a champ on a base PS5 model. I can’t help but wonder, how did they manage to squeeze out such a performance? It’s honestly great.
We’ve seen impressive load times in other PS5 hits like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, but Death Stranding 2 might have set a new record. I mean, wow, it does feel instant!
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach sets a new bar for performance and visual quality on the PS5.
Here’s me booting the game on a base PS5.

If you want to see it for yourself, check out the clips Digital Foundry and fans shared on Twitter. It’s rare to see this level of polish combined with such hefty visuals and massive environments. The game officially launches on June 26th, so you won’t have to wait long to experience it firsthand.
