Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch on June 26, and fans now know how much space they’ll need on their PlayStation 5. The file size has been revealed, showing quite a jump compared to the first game.
According to a post by PlayStation Game Size, the new game will take up 91.476GB on your console. That’s almost double the original Death Stranding from 2019, around 55GB. It’s a notable increase, and I’m curious if players will find the extra content worth the space.

Preloading is already available, so those eager to jump back into Sam Bridges’ world can prepare before the release date. The sequel continues the story with Sam trying to stop human extinction, connecting Australia to the Chiral Network. The game features dynamic day and night cycles, natural disasters like earthquakes and sandstorms, and that mysterious Timefall rain that ages everything it touches.
Players must build new infrastructure and use specialized gear to survive, all while dealing with strange creatures roaming the fractured world. It sounds intense, and the environmental challenges might keep you on your toes.
The game was first announced at The Game Awards 2022 but has been developing since 2020. Interestingly, the composer revealed that Hideo Kojima changed the script midway because early testers enjoyed the game too much. Kojima wanted it to be more polarizing and evoke stronger emotions—quite the twist, right?
