Dambuster Studios said in its December 15, 2025 financial report that it is targeting a Q1/Q2 2028 release window for Dead Island 3, which the company defined as April through October 2028. The report, posted by the studio as a PDF, noted that the team currently numbers 194 employees and that all developers will be assigned to Dead Island 3 once the Luna and Mac ports of Dead Island 2 are complete. The document added, “Parts of the game [Dead Island 3] are now in early production with feature, character, world, and story design moving at pace.”

The report suggested the game is slated for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and PC, and it also referenced next-generation consoles currently forecasted to arrive by the end of 2028. Dambuster did not publish a platform-specific release schedule or an exact launch date beyond the Q1/Q2 2028 window.
Dambuster has hinted at a third entry before, and the studio celebrated Dead Island 2 reaching 20 million players earlier in 2025 while posting imagery that implied a new location beyond Los Angeles.
