Dead by Daylight offers a Steam Free Trial from June 19 at 1:00 pm EST through June 23. Alongside this, a special Anniversary Sale allows you to save 60% on the base game and up to 50% on select DLCs until June 26.
If you’re new to the game, a handy beginner’s guide is available here. The in-game tutorial takes you through the basics for Killers and Survivors step-by-step. You can replay it as often as you like or practice as a Killer against Survivor bots in Custom Matches.
Once ready, pick “Play as Killer” or “Play as Survivor” and jump into the Entity’s trials. It’s a tense game of hide and seek with a deadly twist — perfect for those who enjoy a challenge.
During the free trial, you’ll have access to five Killers: The Trapper, The Hillbilly, The Huntress, The Nurse, and The Wraith. You can play as Dwight Fairfield, William Overbeck, Nea Karlsson, Meg Thomas, David King, Claudette Morel, and Jake Park on the Survivor side.
You can purchase Auric Cells in the in-game store during the trial and earn Iridescent Shards by playing. These shards let you buy some Killers, Survivors, and Outfits. Chapter DLCs are also available to buy, but remember, you’ll lose access to them after the trial unless you own the base game. It’s probably best to grab the base game first if you plan on adding DLCs.
Any progress you make during the trial, like leveling up characters or unlocking the Bloodweb, will be saved. To keep playing after the trial ends, you just need to purchase the base game or a bundle from the Steam Store.
