There is some very sad news for all of you Dauntless fans out there! Phoenix Labs has just announced that they’re officially shutting down this free-to-play action RPG on May 29, 2025. Can you believe it? After so many epic battles and monster hunts, the end is near.
The studio shared their decision in a brief but poignant post on Steam and social media: “Dauntless is shutting down on May 29, 2025. Dauntless will receive no additional content or updates. The game will no longer be available on May 29, 2025.” Talk about a gut punch!
This announcement comes nearly six years after Dauntless debuted in September 2019 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Since then, it has expanded its reach to Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. It’s hard to imagine those interesting moments not being part of our gaming lives anymore.
As of now, we’re still waiting for an update from Forte, the parent company, on Phoenix Labs’ future because things feel pretty uncertain right now. It’s astonishing to think that at its peak, more than 6 million players dove into the world of Dauntless.
