A dataminer has flagged new Call of Duty code that includes explicit Nintendo references, raising fresh questions about the series coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
X user Reality posted on January 11, 2026 that a recent game update contains a new PlatformFamily entry called NINTENDO. The same update reportedly adds “na” to PlatformFamilyToAccountType, which the dataminer says stands for Nintendo Account.
Reality summed up the find in a tweet, writing “Yeah it’s looking like Nintendo x COD is imminent,” and linking to the datamine post on X. View the tweet here.
Yeah it's looking like Nintendo x COD is imminent, whenever the next round of Nintendo announcements are, expect that pic.twitter.com/ojiEUQnHDM

Code references like these typically appear before platform support is announced, and they strongly suggest support for Nintendo hardware. It is almost certain any new Call of Duty release that uses this data would target Nintendo Switch 2 rather than the original Switch, though the datamine does not make that distinction explicit. Microsoft agreed in February 2023 to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms under a binding 10-year deal with content parity and day-one releases. Phil Spencer has also said he supports bringing Xbox franchises to Switch 2.
There is an Xbox Developer Direct scheduled for January 22, 2026 that could include surprise announcements, but a presence there would not be required for a Nintendo reveal. Separately, an earlier inside report suggested Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 may not ship on Switch 2 at launch, so even if COD returns to Nintendo hardware it may not be every new entry right away. The last Call of Duty release on a Nintendo system was the Wii U port of Call of Duty: Ghosts in 2013, which included motion aiming via the Wii Remote.
If Nintendo support is coming, the new code entries make it clear the developers are accounting for Nintendo accounts and platform families in the build. That is the sort of change that usually appears shortly before an official announcement.
