Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Launch on Stadia in September

Cyberpunk 2077

The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed for a couple of months. Instead of releasing on April 16, Cyberpunk 2077 is now slated to release worldwide on September 17. However, this is not the case for all platforms, as according to a recent developer update, Stadia won’t participate in the global launch.

PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC will all receive the game on the concluded launch date, while Stadia will most likely get the game slightly bit later. This will probably be a huge miss for Stadia, bringing a sort of a harmful impact on Google’s streaming service.

With a missing debut of one of the most anticipated video games for 2020, this could shred Stadia’s current player base even more. The statement can be found below, which confirms that Stadia won’t get equal treatment, missing the launch of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on 17 September 2020 for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. By the end of the year the game will also make its debut on Google Stadia. Further information can be found on the game’s official website and on its Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Would this encourage Stadia to start chasing different deals in the future? Maybe it would follow the Epic Games’ phenomenon and try to set their own goals for upcoming titles. It wouldn’t surprise me even if it starts making exclusive deals.

What could be causing this delay is simply the prioritization by CD Projekt Red. Compared to the size and player base of all other platforms, Stadia is far behind all of them. Hence, a reason why CD Projekt Red orientates towards releasing on those platforms rather than on Stadia.

What else to say than wait for Stadia to grow, which may alter other objectives and see the streaming service entrusts a platform-wise competitive factor. More about this to be talked about in the future. So far, we can conclude here.
