Cyberpunk 2077 now fully optimized for Steam Deck, says CD Projekt RED

Cyberpunk 2077 is now fully optimized for the Steam Deck, according to CD Projekt RED. The company confirmed on Twitter that the open-world action RPG is Steam Deck Verified, meaning it’s ready to run on Valve’s portable gaming PC.

Players who already own a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 in their Steam library can now take it with them on the go. The Steam Deck compatibility is good news for fans of the game who want to continue their Night City adventures outside of their home.

Despite launching with major issues, Cyberpunk 2077 has still been a massive commercial success. CD Projekt RED is continuing to work on the game, with a full-fledged expansion in development and plans for a “Game of the Year Edition.” The studio is also establishing a new studio in Boston to work on the sequel.

Details on the expansion, titled Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, are currently scarce, but CD Projekt RED has said that it has the biggest budget any expansion has ever had in the studio’s history. It is expected to release later this year. Once Phantom Liberty is out, CD Projekt RED will also release a “Game of the Year Edition” for the title.

The Steam Deck compatibility is the latest development in CD Projekt RED’s efforts to make Cyberpunk 2077 more accessible to players. The company has faced criticism over the game’s technical issues and other problems since its launch in December 2020. However, it appears that CD Projekt RED is committed to improving the game and providing more content for players to enjoy.

In addition to the expansion and “Game of the Year Edition,” CD Projekt RED is also working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. The new studio in Boston will lead the project, with production set to begin soon. It remains to be seen what new features and improvements the sequel will bring, but fans of the franchise are likely to be excited about the prospect of continuing their Night City adventures in the future.
