Cyberpunk 2077, developed and published by CD Projekt Red, now has a community mod that adds a working fuel system to vehicles. Reported on August 31, 2025, the mod gives each car and bike a fuel tank, an odometer, and automatic refuelling at pumps.
The mod makes every vehicle keep its own fuel level and distance driven. Default tank sizes and fuel consumption values are provided, but players can change those values in the mod’s config. Fuel consumption scales with speed, so driving faster uses more gas, running above 150 km/h will deplete fuel noticeably faster. If a tank hits 0%, the vehicle stalls and only creeps forward until refuelled; destroying or respawning it does not reset that stalled state.
When near a pump the mod begins refuelling automatically and the current price is shown on the HUD. An odometer records distance for each vehicle and is saved across playthroughs, so each car or bike keeps its own history. Who knew a little fuel management could make driving feel so grounded? Oh, and it is a neat touch for players who want more mechanical depth.
Download the mod from the NexusMods page if you want to give cars a limited range or set custom tank sizes.
