Last December at The Game Awards, Sega announced a reboot of the beloved Crazy Taxi franchise as one of five major games. Recently, the company shared more details about what players can expect from the game. A new Japanese recruitment video uploaded by Sega delves into the Crazy Taxi reboot, discussing its development and vision.
The video and several job listings (via Automaton Media) reveal that Crazy Taxi will be a fully open-world game. Prior leaks and reports had suggested this, and it’s also confirmed to be a live service, “massively multiplayer” experience. The game will take place in a large city inspired by the West Coast of the United States.
Players can look forward to high-speed racing, police chases, and stunts. The video offers glimpses of vehicle design and customization and various character models in development. However, it remains unclear if on-foot gameplay will play a significant role. You can watch the video below:
Sega has previously mentioned that the Crazy Taxi reboot will excude a “cheerful feeling of freedom” and combine a “fusion of nature and city” in its environments. This blend aims to create a vibrant and dynamic gaming experience.
