Activision has officially announced Season 4 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, bringing many fresh changes and features to the popular first-person shooter games. Launching on June 14 at 9 am PT, the update is set to introduce a new Warzone map, seven new multiplayer maps, and various gameplay upgrades.
The City of Vondel – A Blend of History and Modernity
The highlight of Season 4 is undoubtedly the addition of the new medium-sized Warzone map called Vondel. This waterfront district of a Baroque European city offers a unique blend of centuries-old history with modern architectural developments, promising a whole new gaming experience for players.
The map will support several game modes at launch, including Resurgence, DMZ, and a limited-time Lockdown mode, while the traditional Battle Royale mode will be added to Vondel later in the season.
Seven Fresh Multiplayer Maps
Adding diversity to the multiplayer front, six new maps will be available at launch – Showdown, Kunstenaar District, Mercado, Penthouse, Mawizeh Marshlands, and Ahkdar Village, with a seventh map, Vondel Waterfront, set for a mid-season release.
Gameplay Enhancements and New Features
Season 4 also introduces a handful of new features, such as the Tactical Amphibious Vehicle (TAV) – a jack-of-all-trades for cruising the streets and canals of Vondel, the return of Favorite Supply Boxes, dynamic fog, and a new Field Upgrade: Reinforcement Flare. This upgrade, unlocked in the Assault of Vondel Event, will help players redeploy a randomly fallen squadmate, providing a new layer of strategy to gameplay.
Community-wide Event and New Weapon
As part of the update, players can also participate in the ‘Assault on Vondel Launch Event,’ which will offer challenges to unlock new features and items for the entire community. A highlight is the unlock of a new melee weapon, The Tonfa, adding to the armory choices for close combat.
Ranked Play Reset
With the launch of Season 4, players will also see a reset in Warzone Ranked Play. This means everyone will have a fresh start to climb the ranks in the new season, adding a competitive aspect to the update.
New max level inbound
Climb to level 850 this season with additional Prestige Challenges, Calling Cards, and a special Weapon Blueprint available to earn.
